Jeff Beck Group guitarist NICOLAS MEIER explaining KR Player with Rockschool pieces

About Nicolas Meier

Formidable guitarist and Godin endorser Nicolas Meier leads his own jazz group with world influences, the 'Nicolas Meier Group', his own metal band 'Seven 7, has a guitar duo with Pete Oxley and, last but not least, has joined the 'Jeff Beck Group' in 2013. In 2014 they've toured the world and released a wonderful live DVD 'Live in Tokyo' featuring both guitarists. Nicolas also runs his own record label called MGP records, building an impressive catalog of interesting artists along side his own roster of excellent records.

Nicolas talking through Rockschool pieces and the features of the KR Player

Nicolas and Stefan, co-founder of KnowledgeRocks, have been friends and peers since the mid 1990s when they both came to live and work in London, England. Their mutual connection was not only being a guitarist and bassist, nor being from neighbor countries Switzerland and Austria - it was that they are Berklee College of Music alumni and shared similar experiences living and studying in Boston, Massachusetts. When Stefan approach Nic to get involved with KnowledgeRocks and as of recent Rockschool pieces, Nic happily agreed and so it came to him fitting us into his busy schedule to shoot four joint venture videos for Rockschool and KnowledgeRocks.

Nic chose two Grade 8 pieces from the current Rockschool syllabus. As he equally loves Jazz and Metal, which is rare and unusual for any guitarist, he picked a jazz piece 'Nosso Samba' and 'metal piece 'Meet Darth Ear'. There are two full performance videos showing Nic playing through the entire pieces with the help of the KR Player. In the 'Walkthrough' video Nic explains how to use the KR Player to get the best practising experience, namely SLOW DOWN, LOOPING and CHANGE PITCH. These three are standard staple for any practicing guitarist and Nic shows how super easy it is to interact with the KR Player.

We had a fun day recording these for you and had a lot of laughs, cup of teas and coffees and yes, we admit, Pizza! A big thank you also to the ueberpatient Leo Mansell from shootandsplice for filming and editing this series.

We all hope that the videos will help you to get the most out of the KR Player and Rockschool graded pieces. Happy practising!

About Jeff Beck Group 'Live in Tokyo' DVD

Jeff Beck is undeniably one of the world s greatest guitar players. Technically brilliant, he is renowned for pushing musical boundaries and has excelled across many different genres from rock and jazz to pop and blues. Live In Tokyo was filmed at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Japan on April 9th this year.

These Japanese dates were the first to feature Jeff Beck's new backing band of Jonathan Joseph (drums), Nicolas Meier (guitars) and Rhonda Smith (bass) and the setlist includes some material from his new, as yet unreleased, studio album. In contrast to Beck s previous visual releases, both filmed in small clubs, Live In Tokyo is filmed in a major concert arena and has a very different, more expansive feel.

Jeff Beck is a true guitar legend and this show captures him at his very best.
